Life Cycle of an Egg

It will happen again in the middle of May
Much like it did in mid-April

The sweet release of a single pearl–
Half a life, floating in hope
That a union will somehow complete her

She has been waiting for 25 years

She reaches her half-life
Still incomplete, drowning in dark red despair
In a womb that will again bear no fruit

A uterus sheds
The most violent tears.
