One TV channel is really all you need.
We watch one TV show. It’s on one channel. We can get news, House, and even American Idol.
In Kirksville it was the same thing. I had one channel, and it allowed me to watch the Towers come down. I will never forget that.
I don’t understand these satellites and digital cables. You can get hundreds of channels. I’d never watch more than a few. Besides, YouTube is a really good alternative for entertainment, and it’s free as long as you buy an Internet service.
The cable company cut our free cable. It was bound to happen sooner or later. We didn’t want cable enough to actually pay for it, and The Company is raking it in through their Internet charges to us anyway. At least we don’t pay by the minute. Remember those days?
*grin* I’ve been about to the point of saying screw cable for a while. However, I need my sci-fi fridays, and there are a few other shows I like to watch – Heroes, Kyle XY, etc. Despite wanting to watch those shows though, I REALLY hate cable companies. Mediacom is such a thief in so many ways. Their service is lousy and they have a tendency to say if there’s any problems that “we’re working on it, deal with it, because you have to”. There seems to be little accountability or allowed competition.
An example – during the Superbowl, our cable dropped in the 2nd quarter. Calling mediacom, they said a large portion of our area was out, and that they were working on it as fast as they could. A previous time, when internet was down, the lady on the phone said “we never guarantee any uptime or any level of service.” i.e. they coulde be down once or twice a week for hours and that would be part of the service. Now, if I could choose charter or some other distributer, that wouldn’t bother me – I’d pay with my wallet. If I could even pick an alternate service such as DirectTV I wouldn’t mind, but I’m locked into the stupid mediacom through rental agreement, as well as Mediacom having control over the landlines right now. Try getting something like Speakeasy DSL or any competing service – it’s not possible.
Ok, realized that went into a huge rant
But, to sum up, cable/phone/etc. companies are EVIL!!!!
