Thanksgiving Lobster

Filed under: General — stargazer @ 4:25 pm

Happy Thanksgiving! I have some words about tradition.

I am not a big proponent of tradition. It is good sometimes, but I like to mix things up. I can get bored of things being so the same all the time. Statements like “We always…” and “I have to…” can freak me out sometimes (there are excepts like “I have to sleep.” True statement.). But nonetheless, we always have turkey on thanksgiving, and I’ve been advocating for a few years now to change this rule. How about a delicious Thanksgiving lobster?! Mmmm…

No one agrees with me on this. Year after year, I end up eating turkey and watching other people eat one of four pumpkin pies. (Why do they so often forget to bring an apple pie for those of us who don’t eat pumpkin pie?) One of these days it will become my reponsibility to bring the apple pie and the lobster if that’s how I want to celebrate my thanksgiving.

So maybe we won’t have lobster this year. Someday I would like to just do something different for a change. I’m just thankful that I don’t have to cook the turkey this year. We’d be having turkey lunchmeat sandwiches.

  1. Lisa, you know odds are that the pilgrims did have some form of “Thanksgiving Lobster” but I suppose the reason we eat turkey is because it was second place in the running for national bird. It should have pushed a little harder then we’d all have “Thanksgiving bald eagle”. But cooking (and eating) turkey is a good too. Should we ever have a Thanksgiving together I’ll make sure to bring “jiffy cake” (a cobbler like substance) with apple or cherry filling instead of a pumpkin pie. Happy Belated Turkey Day

  2. Robert, make it an apple jiffy cake. I don’t like cherry pie filling either. I’m so weird!
