On 3/25/05 I posted an entry about the Sheryl Crow song “Soak Up the Sun”… this woman has some funky lyrics sometimes. I’m not sure what I mean by funky. Stupid? Brilliant? Some combination thereof… I mean she has a song called “My Favorite Mistake.”
What I’m trying to say is that I cannot explain what I like about her new song “Good is Good”. Ok, I take it back. I know why I like the song. I like the way the music and the melody sounds. The lyrics… “good is… good”? What’s with that? And the chorus… “And every time you hear the rolling thunder/You turn around before the lightning strikes…” I’m quite sure that light travels faster than sound, so you see the lightning before you ever hear the thunder. Lyrics like this make me stop and wonder about the intelligence of certain Mizzou graduates.
