I bought the new Green Day Cd, American Idiot, yesterday. I really like it. Who knew I’d like a punk rock so much… perhaps because it’s a punk rock opera. It’s kinda like a musical. It’s got characters and a vague political storyline. It’s story unfolds from February 23 to January 1 of the following year. The music is exciting and the lyrics are intelligent. American Idiot is an anthem for the Whatever generation.
I think it would be fun to see it turned into a musical like The Who’s Tommy, but I’m not sure the story is quite as clear as the tale of the Pinball Wizard.
