I have to admit it… I like Avril Lavigne. My brother bought me her first CD as a gift. I had never heard of her, and I had never heard any of her songs (“Complicated” had just started getting radio play). I opened the CD, and I was like, “why did you get me a CD with a little girl on it?” He told me I’d like it, and I did. I haven’t gotten her new CD, but I like the stuff I’ve heard on the radio from it. The one thing I don’t like about Avril is that my voice doesn’t come close to sounding like hers. I sound pretty stupid singing along with her stuff. It’s just not quite me.
“Tell me, why’d you have to go and make things so complicated?”
I guess it’s true what they say about me…
This is just in from the national hurricane service: “…Lisa Remains Disorganized And Moves North-Northwest…”
Well, I don’t know about the moving north-northwest part.
So I got to be a hurricane, if only once in my life. And my middle name has just wreaked havoc over Florida and the Southeastern United States. Go figure.
Well, I’m off to wreak havoc over my job.
Yesterday, I found out that there is a Tropical-Storm-Lisa out over the Atlantic. “Oh no!” I said to myself. I hope this storm doesn’t get too bad. I’m sure everyone out there named “Ivan” is just loving their first name right now. Maybe the weather service should come up with a different way to name hurricanes, like “a hurricane is forming over the Atlantic,” instead of “Hurricane Lisa is heading straight for the Missouri coast!”
What really entertained me today was this passage that I read at the end of an article about the destruction Hurricane Jeanne (my middle name is Jean) left on Haiti: “Meanwhile, Hurricane Karl and Tropical Storm Lisa remained far out in the Atlantic. Karl’s sustained winds were 140 mph, making it a Category 4 hurricane. Lisa had winds of 60 mph.”
I sent it to my friend Karl, who wrote back and said that his wrath would always be greater than mine.
In the meantime, it is good to know I have winds of 60 miles per hour. Watch out!
So several months back, I decided to make a personal soundtrack. I picked songs that meant something to me at some point in my life and strung them together in somewhat chronological order. I call the mixed CD of 17 songs “Pieces 2 Lisa.” I bring this up now, because my brother is all down with making HIS own personal soundtrack. He says he has about 80 songs! That’s too many for one CD…
My soundtrack has some good stuff on it (obviously, in my opinion). It’s got “In the House of Stone and Light” by Martin Page, my favorite song from when I was in high school. It’s got this great one called “Dive” by Stephen Curtis Chapman. Of course it has stuff from “Rent” too (who could forget those days?). And it’s got one of my own songs (“See”), thanks to Joe Cosas who helped me record a CD. If you’re curious to know what else is on the CD, just ask. If you’re a St. Louisan, I might even let you borrow it when my brother is done with it in a couple weeks.
If my calculations are correct, something very big and very exciting is happening on Friday, October 13, 2006!!!! I am going to have a big party to celebrate too! Friday, October 13 is a great day for a party.
Can you guess what happens that day??
I’l give you a clue… The special date applies personally to me. You all have one too, but it is a different date.
I’ll give you another clue… You would have to be a Super Nerd to want to figure this out. I, being a Super Nerd, took the time to do the calculations.
Ok… I know you are dying to know now. October 13, 2006 is my 10,000th day on earth!!! Oh, I know. I am such a Nerd! But come on! It’s 10,000 days. That only happens once.
I know you are also dying to know how I figured this out. Well, I will tell you. I went to the zoo on Saturday, and I got a printout that said I was 9,224 days old. I just added two years to that and subtracted the difference from 10,000. Then I added it all up and got October 13, 2006. It’s gonna be a great 10,000th day!
