I was in a wedding this weekend. A friend from high school got married. Now my three best friends from high school are all married. It’s not right.
Anyway, the bride’s (and groom’s) family is from Pakistan, so needless to say, it was a different sort of wedding than I had ever been to. Plus it was at the Chase, so it was really fancy. I have spent the last several weeks learning some dances for the wedding. It took up a lot of my time, but the dances were done well, and people could hardly believe that I had never done this kind of dance before. Maybe it’s because I looked the part… I had traditional clothing to wear (and I have to say I looked good in it)… I had several people ask me if I was from Pakistan (I think they could tell my skin is not quite the right shade so they had to ask).
I really enjoyed the dancing. I hope I am able to further my beginner’s skills at some point. Perhaps it will happen very soon… This semester (which starts this week), I’m taking a class in dance therapy. Dance experience is not required, but my counselor training will be a valuable asset. I look forward to the experientially learning about this developing art.
Your class sounds very exciting! I’m glad to hear things went well this past weekend.
