Just a stargazer

Recently the two remaining beers from the freezer fiasco were finished. They tasted flat. Yuck.

Yesterday, I went to the store and bought more Belgian beer, this time of a different brand. I made sure to store them in my fridge.

I wish I had something more interesting to talk about.

Are you having a party on July 31? Would you like to invite me? Ah, the dilemmas in life!

I have been invited to 4 parties (so far) on July 31. That is so weird. It is not everyday that I get a party invitation. (But this is Harry Potter’s birthday we’re talking about here… and none of the parties are Harry Potter parties, believe it or not.) So I have to decide if I would like to party in Chicago, Madison, Kirksville, or St. Louis that day. I’ll probably just stay in St. Louis because it is ever so much easier, and I will know more people at the St. Louis party than at 2 of the other parties. *sigh*

Here’s the rest of the beer story…

So, right after I made that last posting about the exploding beers in my freezer, I went to cook the frozen meal lunch I had brought to work. I realized that there was a puddle of sticky, dry beer on the cardboard on the top of the microwaveable boxed meal. I thought, “gross” and I put it in the microwave. While it was cooking, one of the grad students walked in and said, “I smell beer.” I was embarassed. It totally smelled like beer throughout half of the lab!

Yeah, so like last week, Rob brought bottles of Belgian beer from Lucas Liquors to Lisa’s apartment. We wanted dinner drinks straight away so we stuck the six pack in the freezer. After a few minutes, supper was served with lukewarm Belgian beer from Lucas Liquors. Later, we each had a second beer, slightly more chilled, while we watched a movie.

Rob went home.
Lisa went to sleep.
The two beer bottles slept in the freezer.

The next time Lisa opened the freezer, there were the beer bottles. The beer had become crystalline, thinly oozing out the top of the bottle. What a waste of two wonderful bottles of beer!

Lisa moved the beer bottles to a new home in the refrigerator. Was their flavor wasted? It’s tough to tell.

Yesterday, I went to the dentist… FOR FREE! I love having dental insurance; it almost makes up for pricey heath care and car insurance. Ok. It doesn’t make up for those expensive things at all. But I’m very lucky to have coverage for my dental checkups.

So on Sunday afternoon, following years of consideration, I finally became a country music listener. I programmed my radio to “The Bull” and I traveled the highway, cruising to those cheerful country melodies. I could get used to this.

I got me a cell phone!! Thank God. It’s about time. Now, if only I could figure out how to set up the voice mail! I’m lucky I can even turn the darn thing on. I did figure out how the camera works. I took some lovely pictures of my stuffed lavender hippo, Romeo. Later tonight I might get some shots of my parents cute doggie, Riley. And then there’s Nala, my guinea pig.
