So I’ve been trying to write about this movie, “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind,” but the blog has been wigging out on me. Well, I’ll try it again.
So last weekend I saw the new Jim Carrey movie, “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.” It took me a few days to actually be able to successfully recall the title of the movie whenever I thought about it. I find that somehow ironic because the movie is about being able to selectively erase parts of your memory.
This was a great film, in my opinion, though I liked “Adaptation” (another Charlie Kaufmann screenplay) better. It makes you think about things… If you could erase any of your memories, would you?
I wouldn’t. I mean, I can understand why a person might want to forget certain traumatic events. But if we also erased our regrets, how could we ever learn from them? Maybe we would be fated to make the same mistakes over and over again. Maybe we do that anyway.
