Just a stargazer

You know you’re a nerd if…

There are certain numbers that any normal human being should know… Your phone number, your social security number… and then there are things that only nerds know, like your library card number, and the decimals of pi that come after 3.14. I guess I’m a nerd. I have my library card number memorized.

There are also certain things that I’m surprised other people don’t know about themselves or their families. I have found that a lot of people don’t know their parents birthdays (my mom would be very upset if I didn’t know her birthday). Even more people don’t know their blood type. I think it’s an important thing to know, and if anyone is curious, mine is A positive. It is symbolized “A+,” which is a grade that nerds get.

  1. Well, family birthdays are easy for you! You only have two parents and a brother: i have two parents, six siblings, and a close aunt…not to mention the in-laws.

No, I don’t have my in-laws birthdays’ memorized; I know my father-in-law’s is in June (as well as their anniversary) and my mother-in-law’s is at the end of August (around the same time as my brother-in-law’s).

I HAVE memorized all birthdays of my immediate family members. :) I don’t know my library card # (I don’t have one!), but I actually have most of my frequently-called phone numbers memorized (unlike Nick, who relies on his cel phone to store that info!).

and i know my SS# and Nick’s. and a few other odd numbers. :)

  2. Tanya,

I’m surprised that you, of all people, do not have a library card!

  3. Tanya,

You’re a damn dirty heathen. How do you not have a library card? I have one…. somewhere…. mebbe in St. Louis…. shut up.

    Lisa,

I know my parents’ birthdays because I used them for my combo locks in Russia. My siblings are another matter. I know Alexa’s birthday because it relates to mine by three months, three years, and three days. I write it down though. As for pi: 3.14157 thank you very much, otherwise approximated as 22/7 and I still think that it would be funny to have a st. louis number that was pi (i.e. 314-157-****) and have a card that said:

    Daniel Poth

    Occupation: Master of the Universe

    Phone Number: Pi

  4. i have the parents and siblings birthdays memorized, and i try my best to remember the birthdays of all my friends. my brothers, however, rarely remember birthdays for my parents. which reminds me that i should call and remind them this week that my parents’ birthdays are next week.
